Bay Area Center for ADD/ADHD Team
In addition to our regular therapy services, the Bay Area Center for ADD/ADHD has a team of therapists who work together with one client for 10 sessions on Fridays at 10:15am in San Francisco. Clients receive therapy from a single therapist, while the team of other therapists views the session from a separate room. The clients meet the team and get to hear their suggestions as the team calls in to the therapist to help give the clients the best treatment possible. The team is made up of experts in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, family and couples therapy, and treating ADD/ADHD, as well as trainees who have various levels of experience and are learning to further their abilities with anxiety disorders. Clients report that they feel very supported by having a whole team working on their behalf and have said they have found it very helpful.
Assessment Team
In addition to our regular assessment services, the Bay Area Center for ADD/ADHD has a team of clinicians who work together to provide a thorough assessment of children and adults who may have ADD/ADHD. Once per month, our team meets to work with an individual or family to determine if they have ADD/ADHD and the best treatment plan. The client meets with one of our team members who begins the assessment, scheduling time to do the testing, then the client (or parents in the case of a child) meets with the team for the clinical interview. ADD/ADHD is diagnosed through a thorough clinical interview. Dr. Keith Sutton, the team member doing the testing, and the team psychiatrist will meet with the adult or parents and spend two hours learning about the symptoms and the history. The rest of the team will be in another room, watching the interview, and once the interview is over, the whole team will review the assessment data and determine the diagnosis and treatment plan. The report will then be written up and the team will meet with the adult or parents to review the results and discuss the treatment recommendations. If the assessment is with an adolescent, the adolescent can also join their parents for the meeting with the team for both the clinical interview and the feedback. Clients have felt this approach to diagnosis and treatment planning is very helpful as they have many experts putting their heads together to help provide the best treatment possible.
